Molasses Cookies
(for Dogs!)
This is Molasses Cookies’ recipe (for dogs or three-legged deer) Aurora would have baked these in Tina’s Novella Christmas at the Inn on Cloud Hill.
Ingredients
4 Tbsp Blackstrap Molasses
1/2 cup Natural Peanut Butter
1 ½ cups Old Fashioned Oats
6 Tbsp Pure Coconut Oil
2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
1 ½ Tea Spoon Brewer’s Yeast
1 cup water
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350.
Combine the wet ingredients-molasses, peanut butter, water, and coconut oil until it’s blended. It won’t be smooth, so don’t pull a muscle for this step. ☺
Combine the flour, oats, and brewer's yeast. Now, slowly add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients. Mix until blended into a dough.
Roll the dough out onto a marble surface or onto wax paper to 1/2" thickness. You can use a cookie cutter now to press into the dough to create your shapes or create the shapes you prefer by hand. Using a spatula, transfer shapes onto a cookie sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the dough is firm. Let it cool on a wire rack. That’s it!
Now, you can store treats in an airtight container for 2 weeks, or freeze them and use them as needed. Freezing extends the life of the treat for your fur baby!
