Recipes From The Readers’ Kitchens

Meals with Family and Friends fill our tummies with nourishment and our hearts with wonderful memories. Read on to learn about Tina’s new feature – Recipes from Readers’ Kitchens

Greetings to all New, Rediscovered, and Experienced Chefs!

Wow! So many of us are cooking (more than usual) these days…if social media posts are accurately revealing that story. I know around my house, that has been true. My hubs, Mr. CoMan, has been cooking up a storm (that is code for turning the kitchen into a disaster) – focusing on all of his favorite Cajun meals. It’s been fun seeing him spend hours (and hours!) preparing, chopping (and chopping), and stirring and referring back to the recipe on his phone or computer (over and over again!). I’ve not only enjoyed witnessing his enthusiasm, but the meals he’s creating too. YUM!

Is the same true for you in your kitchen?

Besides eating Mr. CoMan’s delicious gumbo, fricasse’s, red-beans-and-rice, and other gastronomical delights, I have been blessed with him sharing memories of when and where he had these meals growing up. We’ve been married for a long time (I thankfully married my soul mate!), and I’ve heard versions of many of these stories. But, now, they seem to be sweeter and more precious. Maybe, it’s a function of this stage of our lives. I think it has more to do with how we’ve been forced to slow down, spend more time with one another…and actually refocus on what is important. With all of the awfulness COVID-19 has brought to us…we have gotten this too.

Is this the same for you?

Let’s continue this, my Dear Readers! Let’s hold on to the good and the precious and the important things we’ve rediscovered or refocused on during this difficult time. Let’s share the joy of our memories and the scrumptiousness of the good food associated with them to others. We can do this here on the new feature I’ve added to my website…Recipes From Readers’ Kitchens

So, with a rumbling tummy and grateful heart, I’m asking you to email me Your Memories, Stories, and Recipes...just as we’ve been doing in our homes.

I’ve swung open the virtual back door to welcome you into my kitchen. Here you go, take this virtual apron I’m handing to you (purple with books on it, of course!) and look inside the virtual basket of ingredients waiting for you.

How do you intend to use these special items to create your special dish?
Where did you learn this recipe’?
We all would love to hear about the person or persons who taught it to you, cooked it with you or you cooked it for.

I invite you to:

  1. Send the recipe (include specific ingredients and how to prepare instructions).

  2. Include a photo of the completed dish (if possible). And/or add a photo or two or three of someone eating it (I love those!) or the special person(s) who taught you the recipe (I love, love those too!). Whatever photos you think should be included are welcome!

  3. When you email me the recipe, please include your physical mailing address. I have a special gift to send to you as a Thank You!

Email it to me at: tina@tinadesalvo.com

Are you in?

To kick this off, Super Awesome Reader, Hollie Rieth, is sharing a special recipe she received from her grandmother. THANK YOU, HOLLIE for sharing this lovely memory and recipe! Visit the new page to read all about it here

I look forward to receiving your recipes and memories! Send them in today!
